SimCue provides realistic simulations of neonatal vital signs. Each simulation is designed to help you and your team practice different aspects of neonatal resuscitation.
The simulations have been qualified by thousands of uses by hundreds of users to help deliver realistic scenarios that help you improve your neonatal resuscitation skills.
SimCue is designed to be used with NeoCue, which unlocks additional features of team creation, tracking, and performance feedback to close the loop on simulations. NeoCue is not required to use SimCue.
Simulations can be done by one person, or a whole team. Not every simulation can be completed by a single user, e.g. scenarios that require ventilation and chest compressions.
The target audience of this app is any medical professional who performs neonatal resuscitation; these are typically neonatologists, nurses, and respiratory therapists, although anesthesiologists and emergency room doctors and nurses are often involved.
Anyone can get an account via first page; we aggregate team members in the same hospital(s), so that they can create a simulation team from their coworkers. If the you are the first one from their hospital, we will create a user and a hospital code to for you as well.
We developed this app originally for use within hospitals that we work with. Once we had the app, we realized that it would benefit any neonatal or labor and delivery personnel, anywhere in the world.
We would like to release the app to a wider audience, to help medical personnel get better at taking care of babies in the what is probably the most critical ninety seconds of anyone’s life. Since this app provides vital signs, it can be used anywhere in the world, under any healthcare authority or guidelines.The app simulates case histories of babies, and leaves it up to the team to critique whether they have adhered to the relevant local health guidelines or standards. We anticipate that this will be used heavily, at least initially in the US, Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Sweden, and Tanzania. These countries have an established history of performing simulations to help medical staff be better able to deliver care under real life situations.
Why did we develop the app? At the very best hospitals, caregivers make gross errors in about half of all births that result in a baby needing breathing assistance at birth. Babies need help in about 10% of all births. As our primary business, we provide services and tools, e.g. medical devices, to hospitals to help them improve their performance in delivering care, e.g. neonatal resuscitation. This app seemed too useful, and too important to restrict it to the few people that we can reach directly. If people use this app, and get better at helping babies, we collectively have an opportunity to improve the IQ and talent pool of the world.
